On Thursday we hosted our 3rd annual Christmas quiz event. Like previous years tickets sold out early. We saw our regular faces (for who the quiz has now become a Christmas tradition!) as well as many lovely new ones!
Our wonderful volunteer quiz master, Ian Allonby, kindly returned and provided us with our quizzing entertainment for the night. Testing everyone's general knowledge as well as generating lots of laughs. The quiz saw two teams battle it out over a tie break question, but in the end, it was "Up the Dale" who were victorious, bagging themselves some goodies and free drinks at the bar.
Our Jolly Josh raffles have always been fantastic however this year it surpassed itself with prizes extending over 3 tables and the floor! We must mention here the wonderful businesses and individuals of Rochdale who so very generously donated prizes. You can see from our pictures the amount of support we received and would like to thank all the donators from the bottom of our hearts. What a wonderful community we live in!
Thank you also to our amazing Sarah for our fantastic sweet treats and to Anne Burton and Lindsey Ellis who's knitting needles must be red hot from making all of our chocolate orange covers!
Our jolliest jumper competition was a tough one this year! Unable to pick just one, we awarded a whole table the coveted accolade. See if you can pick them out on our pictures!
We wrapped the night up with a few games of play your cards right. Congratulations to our winner who bagged himself a great cash prize of £180. We have always considered this as our 'take home cash prize' our little way of saying 'thank you' for coming.
We've spent most of yesterday emptying raffle envelopes and counting up money and we are absolutely overwhelmed at our total amount raised. We're astounded to announce our total is a whopping £1,848.19!! A fantastic amount which will make a big difference to our charity!
Thank you so much to everyone who came and supported us on Thursday and thank you to all those who donated their time, money or goods. We really couldn't do it without you all! Thank you for RRUFC for being great hosts and to Moorgate caterers for our delicious supper. A final thanks goes out to Sarah and Ann, our amazing fundraising volunteers for helping pull everything together making the night the massive success it was!
We hope you all agree the Jolly Josh quiz night is one to be rivalled. Not only do we all have a fantastic festive night, the money raised will continue to aid families in Rochdale with disabled children and with complex/special needs to #ConnectSupportThrive and #InspireInclusion.
Team Jolly Josh would like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas, and here's to next year!
